http://www.rosemiller.net/

Thanks to everyone who has been buying The Horse That Wouldn't Trot. Lots went for Christmas presents!

I stopped breeding my Tennessee Walking Horse stallion, Praise Hallelujah, and now I enjoy hearing about his grandbabies. Praise Hosanna is in foal to Whoopie's Gold Coin for a 2010 foal. I always predicted that his mare offspring would be great brood mares. This has been proven by Lori Snyder Lowe's Hallelujah mares. She has several and I congratulate her on her foals accomplishments.

In the meantime, Hallelujah lives with 3 of his favorite mares and 3 molly mules. He has no use for the mollies, in fact is quite grumpy with them. Maybe he knows they cannot have babies!

Have a joyful Christmas!

From another horse friend. I have been here. How about you?

Ya' gotta chuckle a bit at this one.

WHAT OWNING A HORSE MEANS:

When you are tense, let me teach you to relax.
When you are short sighted, let me teach you to see.
When you are short tempered, let me teach you to be patient.
When you are quick to react, let me teach you to be thoughtful.
When you are angry, let me teach you to be serene.
When you feel superior, let me teach you to be respectful.
When you are self-absorbed, let me teach you to think of greater things.
When you are arrogant, let me teach you humility.
When you are lonely, let me be your companion.
When you are tired, let me carry the load.
When you need to learn, let me teach you.
After all, I am your horse.

And now for the TRUE story......

When you are tense, let me teach you that there are dragons in the forest and we need to leave NOW!
When you are short-sighted, let me teach you to figure out where exactly in the 40 acres I am hiding.
When you are short-tempered, let me teach you how to slog around the pasture for an hour before you can catch me.
When you are quick to react, let me teach you that herbivores kick MUCH faster than omnivores.
When you are angry, let me teach you how well I can stand on my hind feet, because I don't FEEL like cantering on my right lead today, that's why.
When you are worried, let me entertain you with my mystery lameness, GI complaint and skin disease.
When you feel superior, let me teach you that, mostly, you are the maid service.
When you are self-absorbed, let me teach you to PAY ATTENTION. I told you about those dragons in the forest.
When you are arrogant, let me teach you what 1200 lbs of yipee-yahoo-gotta-go horse can do when suitably inspired.
When you are lonely, let me be your companion. Let's do lunch. Breakfast and dinner sound good, too.
When you are tired, don't forget about the 600 lbs of grain that needs to be unloaded.
When you are feeling financially secure, let me teach you the meaning of "veterinary services".
When you need to learn, hang around the barn, Bud, I'll learn ya. :-)

Because this blog was first to be information on the book, and now I have books en route in time for the big Christmas barn party/book signing, now I am going to change the direction of this blog. Now it will be about my animals and interesting and helpful things I have found for both animal and perhaps human..healthwise and otherwise. Hopefully it will be informative and maybe even entertaining.

Another publishing snafu. I need to remember to email Dog Ear when I fax my corrections. Last one they didn't see until 2 days later, and then when they made the corrections, they only made part of them. apparently they either didn't see the rest or something happened in cyberspace or whatever. Anyhow, that set me back a few days, then when they corrected some of the items, they couldn't read my printing corrections ( I do admit my penmanship is pretty bad, but I really tried) so back it went again, hopefully for the FINAL time.

I contacted another author who used Dog Ear Publishing and he counseled me not to expect my book in a hurry, and he was right. I still like Dog Ear Publishing very much, though. I can always talk to someone and usually my emails are answered quickly. I have to take the blame for most of the delays.

May have my book by end of this week! keeping fingers crossed

Most of us horse lovers/owners/riders know there are many kinds of horse training abuse. The soring of the Tennessee Walking Horse is one of the worst in my opinion, which I address in my book: The Horse That Wouldn't Trot. However, I subscribe to HorseConscious Newsletter and in this current issue was a story and video of dressage abuse. http://www.DressageDisgrace.com. It sounds like there is a massive attack by social media against this abuse. We need the same for the soring issue!

Tuesday, October 20, 2009

well, The Horse That Wouldn't Trot, my life witih Tennessee Walking Horses has just been sent back to publisher with final (hopefully) corrections/ additions. Because my first book is about my horses, I am going to share "good stuff" I have discovered that other horse owners can use. My 21 year old show horse stallion (now a gelding, retired and loving it) Praise Hallelujah (check website www.rosemiller.net )has arthritis quite badly. I discovered a product that has helped him more than any other of the MANY joint products on the market and that I have tried. It is Vetionx (www.vetionx.com ) It give a pep to his step as well. I wholeheartedly endorse it!

I am finding out it is harder to get a book published than I had imagined. I am self publishing it using Dog Ear Publishing, and now have the second "read through" for errors. I cannot believe I missed these things earlier! Anyway, The Horse That Wouldn't Trot, about my life with Tennessee Walking Horses should be available the first part of November, ready for Christmas presents. This book is a collection of true horse stories, as I lived them. My show horses and breeding stock and myself are all retired from showing and raising foals, now I tell their stories.
